Supporters
We have been fortunate in securing the support of two organisations in putting together this information resource. They are the Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO) and ETN Communications. ACSSO has assisted us chiefly by raising the profile of the opportunities that can arise from studying science subjects in upper high school and the careers that can follow. ETN Communications have provided us with the fascinating stories of Australia 's Nobel Laureates which can be linked to from this website.
We sincerely thank our partners for their support.
Acknowledgements
We would also like to acknowledge the support and feedback we have received from many science teachers, careers advisers, school principals and teachers, from the government, independent and Catholic sectors. We would also like to especially thank the NSW Department of Education and the Science Teachers Associations of both NSW and Victoria for their help in adding value to the project.
Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO)
The Australian Council of State School Organisations, representing more than 7 000 school parent bodies across the nation, is delighted to be involved in a program which promotes the value of science to parents and young people.
We believe the health and prosperity of a nation relies very much on the importance attached to science both in our homes and at school. A successful nation will value science and seek to encourage young people to follow a scientific career. From pure science to applied technology, from physicists to pharmaceuticals, from environmental analysts to energy consultants, Australia has a desperate need for recruits.
Just as important is the need for all young people to appreciate the contribution that science has made to our health and well-being. We also want young people, teachers and parents to appreciate how exciting and how much fun science can be. A generation that has both curiosity and scientific method is a generation that will be able to cope with challenges in the future.
